This project is a revival and reinterpretation of Embrionic, a bold 1970s typeface originally designed by Gary Gillot. I fully digitized the typeface, made several structural changes to modernize its look, and expanded it with new characters to make it more usable for today’s design needs. The updated version keeps the funky, high-impact spirit of the original but refines it for smoother readability and flexible use across sizes.
This process involved researching the original form, redrawing every glyph, and carefully tweaking curves and spacing. The result is a fresh take on a forgotten gem, bringing vintage character into a contemporary design context.
